Community Living Kincardine & District (CLKD) is celebrating their recent book launch!
A parent's group called the ''Homies with Extra Chromies'', along with the Infant & Child Development Program wrote a book about Down syndrome, friendship, inclusion and acceptance.
''Will and Jake: Best Buds Forever'' is from the perspective of a little boy who does not have down syndrome, and he talks about his friend Jake who does have down syndrome.
Jenny Raspberry, Infant and Child Development Coordinator at CLKD says that it's a fun, light-hearted story that explains down syndrome in child-friendly terms.
The goal is to foster conversation and awareness in children and families.
Books are available to buy for $15, will all money raised going to support CLKD.
The book will be available for purchase on amazon.ca and chapters.indigo.ca.
Four local families helped write the book, and the illustrator grew up in Bruce County as well.
