A new event is planned in Owen Sound this month to celebrate the completion of the Downtown River Precinct project.
The 1st annual Riverside Reunion is set to take place Sept. 28 in the newly revamped area along the Sydenham River downtown, with a stage for entertainment being set up on 1st Avenue East.
According to a city staff report, local entertainers will begin performing at 4 p.m. and the headline act Chicken Fried -- a Zach Brown tribute band -- will take the stage at 9 p.m.
The staff report explains food vendors will also be lined up along 1st Avenue East for the event. The Farmers' Market will have vendors present too and provide family entertainment throughout the afternoon.
Owen Sound's annual Salmon Celebration will be moved again this year to be incorporated into the Riverside Reunion, a staff report explains. Previously it had been held in locations such as the Mill Dam or Harrison Park.
The city's budget for the Riverside Reunion is $21,500.
It will be free to attend.
