South Bruce Peninsula Offering Reward for Next Wiarton Willie

South Bruce Peninsula | by Cody Misner

A reward of $1000 is up for the person who finds a chubby, furry, albino groundhog to act as a back up for the current critter.

The current Wiarton Willie has only held the mantle for a year and a half however South Bruce Peninsula is already hunting for the successor to Willie's crown.

A reward of $1,000 is up for the person who finds an albino groundhog to act as a backup for the current critter.

This would be the 7th Willie since the first one passed away in 1999, drawing international attention.

The current Willie replaced the previous in 2018 after the 13 year old weather wizard died.

According to online sources the average life span of a groundhog is around six years, the past Willies have lived to be over 10 years old.
