Bruce County Manager of Economic Development Jill Roote says they're competing for the Tourism Innovator of the Year Award.
Roote says they created their own methadology and 2018 report to get more information on how tourism impacts the county.
She says, "We consolidated (the information) into a report which really identified the things that are happening around the county in tourism."
Roote says it's the mindset at Bruce County tourism now to carefully create and then study the data they can get from visitors and front-line workers, and then make decisions for future programs.
Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence thought the idea had merit and Bruce County is one of three finalists in the innovator category.
The winner will be announced at the Ontario Tourism Summit, October 30th at the Blue Mountain Village Inn & Conference Centre.
