A petition of support has been launched for the Owen Sound to Guelph bus due to begin operating in early 2020.
According to a city statement, the Ontario Highway Transport Board requires residents to sign a petition in support of the service as part of the licence application for the proposed route.
The twice-daily bus service will run between Owen Sound and Guelph and include stops in Chatsworth, Williamsford, Durham, Mount Forest, Arthur, Fergus and Elora.
In October, the city awarded a $1.02-million contact to London-based company Voyago to operate the pilot project bus service from January 2020 until March 2023.
The Owen Sound-Guelph bus service is being funded by a $1.24-million grant from the Ontario government's Community Transportation Grant Program.
Petitions are available until tomorrow at Owen Sound City Hall, the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library, Grey County Administration Building and the Owen Sound Transit Terminal.
