A lot of road reconstruction work will begin this Spring in Hanover.
The town is taking on 1.5 million dollars in road reconstruction work this Spring, Summer and Fall.
The massive project includes the reconstruction of 8th Street from 14th to 17th Avenue, 14th Avenue from 7th to 9th Street as well as extending the sidewalk along 18th Avenue from 6th to 10th Street for students attending John Diefenbaker Senior School.
Mayor Sue Paterson notes residents of 8th Street have been asking for this road reconstruction work and she is pleased that this year it will happen.
The 8th Street project will address road deficiencies due to poor soil conditions a s well as aging infrastructure beneath the street..
Along with road reconstruction, the sanitary, water and storm infrastructure will also be upgraded as part of the project.
The 1.5 million dollar project came in 174 thousand dollars under what the Town had budgeted for.
The new 18th Avenue sidewalk will be complete by the end of August with remaining road reconstruction work wrapping up by the beginning of October.
The tender for the project has been awarded to Moorefild Excavating Ltd from Harriston.
