A popular walking trail at Harrison Park in Owen Sound is going to get a fresh pave next month.
City council recently awarded a $389,000 contract to E.C King Contracting for Owen Sound's 2020 asphalt resurfacing program. The $100,000 Mile Drive Trail paving job is part of it.
It was the lowest of two compliant bids the city received.
The portion of the Mile Drive Trail being resurfaced is currently gravel and runs through a forested area along the east side of the Sydenham River. The trail then crosses a bridge back over the river and loops back through the west side of Harrison Park.
Owen Sound's Director of Public Works and Engineering Dennis Kefalas expects work to get underway sometime after Labour Day.
The trail resurfacing is being undertaken to improve year-round access, accessibility and reduce ongoing maintenance.
