Work on an Alternative Health Facility in Collingwood is complete.
The legion has been transformed into a 25 bed facility to take care of those who are recovering from COVID-19 in the event that inpatient capacity at the hospital is reached.
That’s if there is a future surge in cases of the virus in South Georgian Bay.
The AHF is equipped with Wifi and ipads would be available for patients.
There is a separate air release system so air is not shared with the rest of the legion.
The town of Collingwood has provided a hundred thousand dollars which Collingwood hospital President and CEO, Norah Holder says may go towards a permanent generator.
There is a temporary generator at the site now.
This AHF would be used if the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital reached a hundred percent of its capacity. It is currently running at 60 to 80 percent.
The hospital is leasing the space from the legion to the end of August and the facility will stay set up until then.
