The town of Wasaga Beach has a new plan to keep the town-owned part of the main beach area safe.
Last Thursday, the town closed the sand covered Beach Drive and put up fencing which sectioned off four separate areas.
At a special virtual council meeting on Tuesday, councillors unanimously approved the COVID-19 Beach Drive Promenade Community Safety Plan.
Under this new plan, the number of people will be monitored in each section or “pod” to maintain physical distancing.
Access to the pods will be controlled by one of the nine Beach Ambassadors council recently approved. If one pod is full, beach goers will be directed to the next available area.
Enforcement assistance will be provided by town by-law officers.
Beach goers allowed into the pods will receive wrist bands.
Pod One, closest to the Spruce Street Parking Lot, will be set aside for residents.
The provincial park run beach areas are fully open, but you still have to practice physical distancing.
