The SIU has been called in, after a fatal shooting by police in Collingwood.
On September 9, 2020, shortly after 12:30p.m., members of the Collingwood and the Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a disturbance at an address near Third and Beech Street in the Town of Collingwood.
Responding officers encountered an armed man.
During this confrontation a 29-year-old local man was injured and was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The SIU is now investigating and has invoked its mandate, so few other details will be released, including the identity of the victim.
