Wiarton’s most famous Groundhog has predicted an early spring.
The prediction was held virtually this morning due to COVID-19 restrictions, but it hasn’t changed the excitement surrounding the event, which is in its 65th year.
At 8:07 ‘Willie’ replaced by a white fur hat in homage to the very first Groundhog Day in Wiarton did not see a shadow which according to folklore, means an early spring.
Shubenacadie Sam has predicted an early spring, while Punxsutawney Phil has predicted six more weeks of winter.
