A Grey County Fish company has recalled its smoked trout products after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency expressed concerns about the potential growth of botulism bacteria. The CFIA says Kolapore Springs and North Shore smoked trout products have been removed from shelves and consumers should not eat them.
The recall affects Kolapore Springs Smoked Trout, Smoked trout with pepercorn and smoked rainbow trout with best before dates up to March 31, 2021,
On its website, the company says no bacteria has been found in any of the products and no one has become ill.
The company says the CFIA had concerns with the type of plastic bag that was used to vacuum pack the product.
The product with the old packaging has been removed from the shelves of retailers and replaced with a new type of plastic bag.
