Remuneration for Bruce County warden and councillors was down in 2020, compared to totals in 2019 according to a report presented to the county’s Corporate Services committee on April 1st..
Last year taxpayers spent just over $288,500 in per diems and expenses.
In 2019 that amount was just over $305,000.
In 2020 then Warden Mitch Twolan, mayor of Huron Kinloss received just over $68,000 for his Warden duties.
County councillors Janice Jackson, mayor of South Bruce Peninsula, and Milt McIver, mayor of Northern Bruce Peninsula, each came in around $32,000 for per diems and expenses in 2020.
Other county councillors:
Brockton Mayor Chris Peabody – Just over $31,000
Arran Elderslie Mayor Steve Hammell and Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau – around $29,000 each.
Kincardine Mayor Anne Eadie – just over $28,000
South Bruce Mayor Robert Buckle – the lowest at $27,000
Included in the 2020 total were per diems for citizens serving on the library board and the accessibility committee, along with money for Saugeen Shores Deputy Mayor Don Matheson for serving one day in place of Mayor Charbonneau.
