The construction contract for the job was awarded to DOMM Construction at a cost $450,000.
Manager of Grey Roots Museum & Archives Jill Paterson states in a release, they are excited to see this project morning forward, “we have long anticipated this new build and with the development of the Regional Agriculture Learning and Demonstration site next door, the general Store will provide a great opportunity to showcase the abundance of products from Grey County Farms and Celebrate local business as economic drivers and treasured community hubs.”
According to Grey Roots, the construction of the replica general store will, “enrich the Grey Roots experience,” for visitors and residents by increasing the number of artifacts on display.
The new building will join the ten-acre village as it features historic and replica buildings like a sawmill, schoolhouse, garage, and a blacksmith shop.
