Meaford Council has approved a recommendation to award the tender for the Trowbridge St. Resurfacing and Parking Lot Reconstruction project, worth over $160,000.
During a council meeting last week, a report from Meaford’s Treasurer and Director of Corporate Services Darcy Chapman identified the resurfacing project, which will also include improvements to the sidewalks at Sykes St. N. and Trowbridge St. intersection, and the construction of on-street parking next to the Meaford Library.
The total budget for this project was set at $210,900, with the tender award being recommended to council going to Tri-Capital Construction Inc. at $162,912. The funds to support the project were split between, $36,000 from grants, $86,475 from taxes, $62,700 from reserve funds, $15,700 from the reserve supported contingency budget, and $10,000 from reserve supported engineering.
The report notes the excess surplus funds will be staying the the Roads, Streetlights and Drainage Reserve Fund for future use.
The project will see 179 meters of road between Bayfield Rd. and Sykes St. be rehabilitated as well as the pulverization of existing surfaces for repairs. Two accessible parking stalls will be installed as well as one 15 minute loading stall, located outside of the library entrance.
Currently, the project is estimated to start after August 3rd, and be finished no later than September 24th.
