Brockton resident Doug Fleet is a little concerned that when a special flag goes up at the flag pole at Yonge and Jackson Streets in Walkerton, the Canadian flag comes down.
During a delegation to Brockton council recently, Fleet views the lowering of the Canadian flag as an insult to veterans and Canadians at large.
Fleet would like to see the special observance flags be displayed on a flag pole other than the one at “the Y” in Walkerton.
He suggests looking at an additional pole there or perhaps one at the Community Centre.
Mayor Chris Peabody and all of council, agreed it was something worth looking at however, it likely won’t come up until budget time this January.
Meanwhile, staff has been directed to look into the matter including any cost involved and if there’s money now that could cover the suggestions.
