2021 is looking like a good year so far for construction in Arran Elderslie if April statistics are any indication.
In a report to Arran Elderslie council on Monday, May 25 Chief Building Official Patrick Johnson says just over $50,000 worth of building permits were issued last month, representing a construction value of almost 5-million-dollars.
That compares to April, 2020, when it was just over $10,000 worth of permits representing a construction value of just over 1.2-million-dollars.
Year to date figures are encouraging just as well.
Up to the end of April this year, Arran Elderslie has issued over $118,000 in building permits at a construction value at just over 12.6-million-dollars.
In all cases, the April numbers represent the highest figures in both permits and building value since 2017.
The increases come in new home builds and in barn construction.
