A new recycling pilot program is underway in Bruce County, making it free to drop off certain plastic materials often used in agriculture.
According to a release, starting June 1, collection bags will be made available for free at participating sites.
The program will allow twine, bale wrap, silage bags and bunker covers to be dropped off at participating landfills in Bruce County.
The participating locations for bags and material drop offs are the Eastnor Waste Disposal Site at 1252 West Road in Lion’s Head, and Arran Landfill at 671 Sideroad 20 in Arran-Elderslie.
For Brockton residents only, they can visit the Brant Landfill at 57 Concession Road 8 in Elmwood, and Greenock Landfill at 564 Concession 10, Chepstow.
The release notes farmers often store materials on their farms as they figure out what to do with them. Used material that has been stockpiled, referred to as legacy material, will not be suitable for recycling markets if it was stored without considering recycling conditions.
