Virtual Relay for Life events at Saugeen District Senior School and a similar one in Stratford are getting a monetary shot in the arm.
Bruce Power is matching donations up to $30,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society’s events.
Due to COVID-19, both events will be held virtually on Saturday, June 12, instead of in person.
Special events specialist for the Canadian Cancer Society Allison Taylor-Misener says the relay will still feature the hallmark components of the in-person events, including celebrating cancer survivors, walking laps, enjoying fun activities, supporting people living with cancer, collecting online donations, and remembering those we’ve lost.
She states, “Today, nearly one in two Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.”
