A 32-year-old Saugeen Shores man has been charged with a drug trafficking related offence, after being arrested in Port Elgin earlier this month.
Town Police say they received a report of an intoxicated male in the area of Bluewater Drive around 7 p.m. on June 9.
Police officers attended and located the 32-year-old walking down the roadway.
Saugeen Shores Police say the male was put under investigative detention and a pat down was conducted for officer safety.
“During the pat down two containers dislodged from his clothing and fell to the roadway,” Town Police say in a release. “Police observed that the containers contained a large amount of suspected Fentanyl.”
Officers arrested the 32-year-old male and say a search of the police database indicated the suspect was currently wanted on a warrant.
The accused is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. Police have not identified him.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing and was remanded into custody with a future court date.
