A new virtual exhibit is available for viewing at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre titled “Inspired By Bruce County.”
A release notes the exhibit opened on June 29 and features the works of painters Gayle Slinger and Margot Foster.
Slinger started her art in the early 90’s, where she eventually started developing her own style and has been teaching classes in London since 2001, southwestern Ontario and locally since 2013 at the Southampton Art Centre.
A painter and instructor in both acrylic and watercolour mediums, Slinger is a member of the Shoreline Artists, drawing her inspiration from nature, primarily the sky, water, trees and rural landscapes.
“As an artist I am inspired by the images and colours I see in the world around me,” says Slinger. “Painting provides me creative moments of joy as well as challenges and as much as I love to paint, it is the challenges that lead me into pushing boundaries and trying something new.”
Foster was able to study art and culture in different countries and continues to experiment in different mediums.
A Southampton Arts Centre student, board member, gallery artist, and now staff member, Foster says her greatest joy arises when something she has created connects with an individual and they are drawn in by her work.
“As a self-taught artist, taking courses from a variety of talented individuals has always been my passion,” says Foster. “I am continually amazed with the range of incredibly personal results which come from collective instruction. This speaks to my personal belief that within each of us is a uniquely individual art perspective waiting to be released.”
The exhibit is available on the museum’s website and will end Sept. 25.
