West Grey council has approved a recommendation to award the tender for the Concession 2 WGR paving project for almost $620,000.
Included in the approval is the installation of a guardrail system along the road at the S bend, using the remaining funds from the Enbridge paving budget.
As part of the Owen Sound Reinforcement Pipeline Project agreement with Enbridge and the Municipality of West Grey, Enbridge is covering the costs of the restoration of the hard top surface along Concession 2 WGR, from Grey Road 4 to 15th Sideroad WGR, costing a total of almost $700,000.
It was noted the cost of nearly $620,000 is for the paving portion of the project, with the almost $700,000 being needed for various other expenses for the project like engineering and contingencies.
As part of the agreement, West Grey received over $745,000 from Enbridge to restore the road right-of-way.
A council reports notes this project was not included in the 2021 capital budget.
