Despite the success in the region of pop-up and drive-through vaccination clinics, more needs to be done.
In a town hall interview put on by Bruce Power on July 21st, Medical Officer of Health for the Grey Bruce Health Unit, Dr. Ian Arra, says they have “a lid on” the Delta Variant of Covid but as the Fall approaches and children are scheduled to be back at school, a fourth wave could create itself in the region and across the province.
To fight this, the answer lies in those people who, for whatever reason, are hesitant to get the shots.
Arra says it’s the only way to fight a fourth wave or the present Delta Variant.
When asked about whether or not kids will be able to return to school in September, he says about getting vaccines, “If we don’t do this immediately, I would say, we are risking that this is going to stretch for weeks and in the Fall, if that’s not completed, that’s going to be even a harder situation to be in.”
Dr. Arra, in his answer, did not refer to schools being closed but intimated it could be a tough time of year for everyone.
