The 46th annual Summerfolk event is looking for about 100 more volunteers to help out.
President and Chair of the Board of the Georgian Bay Folk Society Deb Haswell says currently they have about 50 per cent of the volunteers they need right now, and are looking for residents to offer their afternoon on Aug. 21 or 22.
Haswell says the volunteers will be mainly working the gates and checking tickets at the various venues, while being able to listen in on live performances.
“It is not a labour intensive thing, but we need bodies to make sure everybody is having a good time, they are safe, they are happy, and monitoring the PPE, make sure the people have the masks on, they are respecting people’s space. They are small venues, so each venue is 50 to 100 people max, so we are not talking large crowd control by any means, it’s a fairly relaxed environment, but we do need people who understand the protocols and the safety guidelines that we have in place,” says Haswell.
Haswell notes they are looking for anyone over the age of 16 to become a volunteer for the event days, promoting any high school residents if they are in need of obtaining their volunteer hours.
Some of the featured performers coming to the event include, Chantal Kreviazuk, Skydiggers Trio, Danny Michel, Shakura S’Aida, Good Lovelies, and Emm Gryner.
For anyone looking to submit and application to volunteer, forms are available on the Summerfolk 46 website.
