The United Way of Bruce Grey is looking for support from residents for the annual Backpack Program.
A release notes the program provides loaded backpacks for children of low income families.
With the economic impacts of the ongoing pandemic, the United Way expects there to be a need just as great as last year.
If you are looking to help out, financial donations to the organization allow the United Way to purchase more supplies. Donations can be made through the Donate Today website or by calling 519-376-1560.
A donation of school supplies is also being accepted by the United Way through drop offs at the United Way of Bruce Grey office at 380 9th Street East.
Taking part in the annual Stuff The Bus event is another method to contribute by donating school supplies or by making a financial donation. This year’s event is running between Aug. 19 and the 21 at Staples in Owen Sound.
The packing and pick-up of the backpacks will be done at the Sydenham Campus in Owen Sound.
Having been run for 17 years, the Backpack Program has been able to distribute over 28,000 backpacks to children in need.
More details on the program can be found on the Backpacks 4 Kids website.
