Owen Sound Police say for over the long weekend they have teamed up with South Bruce OPP, Saugeen Shores Police, Hanover Police, and West Grey Police for a large scale traffic initiative.
In a release, Owen Sound police say the team up is to send a strong message against impaired driving and how it will not be tolerated, while also showing a visible police presence in the city.
Police note during this operation, several RIDE checks were held Saturday evening around Owen Sound, where about 700 drivers were stopped and had their sobriety checked.
Owen Sound Police say they are happy to report out of the 700 checked, no charges were laid for impaired driving.
