The Town of Saugeen Shores is looking for candidates to fill the Southampton ward vacancy on council.
A release notes, this search follows the resignation of previous Southampton Coun. John Rich, who left the post on Sept. 7.
At a Sept. 27 meeting, council decided to fill the vacancy by appointment.
Anyone interested in applying must be an eligible voter and a Saugeen Shores resident, land owner or be the spouse of a land owner in the area, but does not need to live in the Southampton ward.
Applications must be received in person by 2 p.m. on Oct. 18.
Once all applications come in, council will hold an appointment meeting, where each applicant will have the chance to address council.
Each member of council will vote and the chosen candidate must get more than half of the votes from council.
More details on how to apply can be found on the Saugeen Shores website.
