West Grey Police say they have responded to a total of 145 calls for service in two weeks.
Between Oct. 21 and Nov. 4, police say they responded to 16 motor vehicle crashes, 32 police assistance and 17 suspicious persons complaints.
Police note they also provided assistance and de-escalation at eight Mental Health Act calls, while also attending to six 911 calls.
On Oct. 23, police say they received a driving complaint on Bruce Road 10 from the OPP, where they were able to locate the vehicle and the driver. The driver was apprehended and the administered test found they were reportedly almost three times over the legal limit. The 27-year-old accused from Durham was charged with impaired driving and has been given a court date in Walkerton. Their vehicle was impounded and their driver’s licence was also suspended.
On Oct. 26, West Grey Police say they were called to Ayton after getting word of an assault. When they arrived however, the suspect fled the scene and an arrest warrant was issued. Later on Nov. 3, the 41-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with break and enter, assault with a weapon, assault, uttering threats, and failing to comply with a probation order.
On Oct. 31, police say after a month-long investigation, a search warrant was executing which led to the seizure of a large quantity of Fentanyl, Crystal Methamphetamine and Cannabis, with a value of about $20,000. As a result, a 29-year-old man from West Grey was arrested and charged with possession of Fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of Cannabis for the purpose of distribution.
Police say the Criminal Investigations Unit is continuing to look into the theft of two motor vehicles, which occurred sometime between Oct. 27 and the 29 in Bentinck Township.
