An online toy drive fundraiser launched by Bruce Power has received $10,000 through its supplier partners.
The fundraiser was started by the company with the United Way of Bruce Grey to collect cash donations for toy and hamper programs during the holiday season.
The fundraiser will benefit the toy drives at the Port Elgin Salvation Army, Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey, Kincardine Hamper Program at St. Anthony’s Church, Walkerton and District Optimist Club, Tiverton Lions Club, Ripley Lions Club, Paisley Hamper Program, Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, Saugeen First nation, and the Owen Sound Salvation Army.
To help kickstart the fundraiser, the $10,000 donation was made by Bruce Power’s partners through the company’s Charitable Events Sponsorship Program.
Bruce Power’s Manager of Community Relations Dwight Irwin says, “We are fortunate to work with suppliers who share our commitment to our local community, and I want to thank them for this generous donation.”
Bruce Power also intends to make a $5,000 contribution to locally run toy drives and hamper programs in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties.
“Contributions made from our employees, suppliers, and community members will go a long way to brightening the holiday season for many local families,” says Irwin.
The fundraiser is open to Bruce Power employees and contractors, as well as residents.
Those looking to make a donation can visit the Bruce Power Toy Drive website until Nov. 22. Tax receipts are available.
