Hanover Police say about 30 cases have been closed with the arrest of a man in the downtown core.
Police say on Nov. 9 after an in-depth investigation and foot chase in the downtown area, a suspect is facing several charges of break and enter, possession of stolen property and theft.
According to police, this arrest and following search warrant were able to close nearly 30 cases, which began with a surge of break-ins and thefts early in the summer of local businesses, residences, and vehicles, both locked and unlocked.
The 48-year-old accused had recently relocated to Hanover from the Kitchener area, and has been released from custody on strict terms.
Deputy Chief George Hebblethwaite says the accused has a lengthy record and can be described as a prolific offender.
“It was through a combination of tips from our community members, tedious review of hours of security video, and good old-fashion police work that led to this arrest,” says Hebblethwaite.
The accused has been given a court date for next month in Walkerton.
Police did not name the accused.
