Saugeen Shores Police say a vehicle fleeing from officers has crashed into a residence.
Police say on Dec. 25 around 2:30 p.m., an officer on general patrol tried to stop a vehicle for highway traffic act infractions.
The vehicle sped off and crashed in a home on Bricker Street, where a female passenger sustained serious injures, and an occupant of the residence sustained minor injuries.
As a result of the injuries, the Ontario Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate.
The SIU is an independent government agency which investigates the conduct of officials, which may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault, and discharge of a firearm at a person.
While the SIU conducts their investigation, a 46-year-old accused man of no fixed address faces numerous charges of flights from police, dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm, failing to comply with a release order, operation while prohibited, driving while suspended, and failing to stop for a stop sign.
Police say the accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
Police did not provide the name of the accused.
