The Town of Saugeen Shores says it has completed 84 per cent of its major initiatives in 2021.
During a council meeting on Jan. 10, the 4th Quarter and Year-end Progress Report was brought forward by the Senior Management Team.
Of the 37 initiatives, the town says they reached an 84 per cent completion rate.
Of the 31 initiatives with an additional six from the Saugeen Shores Police Service, some of the achievements include:
-Reaching a land claim settlement with Saugeen Ojibway Nation
-Saugeen Shores Attainable Housing Task Force report and hiring a Housing Coordinator
-Completion of Lamont Sports Park phase one construction
-Completion of phase three of construction of Bruce Road 25
-Recruiting five new physicians, opening a same-day Urgent Care clinic and adding a second nurse practitioner at the health clinic
Mayor Like Charbonneau says 2021 was a year of significant achievement for the Town of Saugeen Shores.
“We made major progress on key priorities like physician recruitment, housing and strengthening relationships with out First Nation neighbours. We also have our first-ever formal business plan in place for 2022 so we can more easily track and report on our efforts to manage our growth, improve our efficiency and realize a higher quality of life for every resident,” says Charbonneau.
Some of the 10 major initiatives like the Cedar Crescent Village project, Harbour Dock Improvement and Summerside Park Development planning will be carried into this year.
While operating in 2022, the town says senior staff and council will be following their 2022 Business Plan which will be coming to council for final approval on Jan. 24.
