Over $1.1 million in provincial funding has been announced for road infrastructure projects in Owen Sound and Meaford.
MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Bill Walker announced the funding coming through the Connecting Links program.
Owen Sound is receiving $585,000 for the second phase of the rehabilitation of 16th Street East. Meaford is getting over $547,000 for the rehabilitation work on Sykes Street North.
Walker says he is happy to see the connecting links funding continue for communities in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound.
“This investment will get shovels in the ground on these two critical infrastructure projects that are so important for the movement of goods, connecting local residents to their jobs, spurring economic growth, and most importantly the health and safety of all residents,” says Walker.
Walker’s office says the Ontario government is going to provide $30 million this year to support 16 connecting links projects across the province. This funding will cover up to 90 per cent of eligible project costs, to a maximum of $3 million for road projects, and up to $5 million for bridge projects.
Minister of Transportation Caroline Mulroney says, “millions of Ontarians depend on municipal roads and bridges each day to get where they need to go and that is why our government is providing municipalities with the funding they need to maintain local infrastructure.”
