The municipality of Meaford is looking to hear from residents on what they would like to see at the current skateboard park.
Consultation meetings will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on May 25 and May 26 at the skateboard park on 57 Richmond Street in Meaford.
The municipality says the current park was built in 1996 and was later upgraded in 2006. Council approved funding, as part of its 2022 budget, to replace some of the current equipment that is reaching the end of its useful life and add new equipment to the skateboard park to make sure it continues to be maintained and improved.
Manager of Parks and Facilities Rod Willis says, “the skateboard park is a popular facility for youth. We’re relying on the feedback of our park users to make sure those who use and value the park have a say in what it offers.”
The municipality adds these consultation sessions will give residents a chance to examine the existing equipment, ask questions and provide input on the future of the park.
If residents are unable to attend the meetings, they can fill out a survey as well. The survey asks questions including what equipment is important and what they would like to see at the park.
The survey will be available until June 5, and the results, as well as the meetings will be used to help prepare for a final design and implement the improvements this year.
The survey can be completed here.
