The Owen Sound Pride Parade is making its first return to the city since 2019.
Grey Bruce Pride says the parade will be held on June 18 at 2 p.m.
The organization says the community is more than ready to celebrate this year’s theme, The World Keeps Spinning.
The day will start with a get ready for pride day event at the M’Wikwedong Gym at 9 a.m.
The parade will set out from market square at 2 p.m., then cross the rainbow crosswalk on 8th Street, where they will proceed down 1st Avenue West to 10th Street. The parade will then cross the 10th Street bridge, and head back up to 2nd Avenue East to the market.
The organization adds following the parade, there will be a street fair in the Owen Sound market area that will include vendors, a bouncy castle, dunk tank, as well as entertainment from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The day will end with “Drag and Cabaret” at the Heartwood Hall at 8 p.m.
The organization says they had about 1,000 people attend their last parade before the pandemic, and expect to have the same number again this year.
Grey Bruce Pride says the month will also have a variety of activities including a festival celebrating diversity in the market square in Owen Sound from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and a social event on June 9.
The Meaford library will host a queer trivia night on June 16 at 6 p.m., and on June 25, the pride parade will make its way to downtown Kincardine at 11 a.m.
Pride month will end with its final event on June 28 with a 2S-LGBTQQIAP+ community hike at Harrison Park at 5 p.m.
Grey Bruce Pride says they need help during the parade and for the street fair with setting up and tearing down. Those interested in volunteering or becoming a vendor can visit the Grey Bruce Pride website for more details.
