The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library is getting ready for the Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival next week.
Library Youth Services Assistant Katie McLeish says this year’s participants ended up producing 13 different films, which will be screened at the Galaxy Theatres on the Sunset Strip on Wednesday, June 15.
The films submitted offer a wide range of topics, from dealing with isolation in the COVID-19 pandemic to a cowboy stand-off, and even aliens.
Admission is free, and typical movie concessions will be offered by the theatre.
Anyone who can’t make it to the film festival will also have the option to borrow a DVD from local libraries after the festival ends to enjoy the short films at home.
Participants range in age from Grades 7 to 12.
The library puts out a call in February for interested young filmmakers to sign up, with the submission deadline in May.
