Bruce Power is supporting local pride parades by becoming a sponsor of the Owen Sound and Kincardine events this month.
Bruce Power says it shares the same vision with the local organizations and have a mission to promote an inclusive community by hosting the annual family friendly pride parades and celebrations.
The parade in Owen Sound is occurring on June 18 and the one in Kincardine will be on June 25.
Chief Nuclear Officer Chris Mudrick says, “our diversity, equity and inclusion committee works to ensure we welcome members from the LGBTQ2S+ community and that we have equitable programs to support equal opportunities in the workplace for everyone, including women, members of visible minorities, persons with disabilities and Indigenous peoples.”
President of Kincardine Pride Fort Papalia adds, it is great to see the community come together for the event.
“Kincardine Pride is honoured to have the sponsorship of this area’s community leader Bruce Power, in our efforts to promote Kincardine as an LGBTQ2S+ welcoming community,” says Papalia.
Chair of the Owen Sound Pride Parade Rachel Paterson says Grey Bruce Pride appreciates Bruce Power’s support.
“Bruce Power is one of our leading sponsors and we are thrilled with the opportunity of visibility this helps us create for our community,” says Paterson.
Bruce Power adds as part of its commitment to progress its diversity, equity and inclusion goal, they have partnered with Diversio, a Canadian-owned business, to perform an in-depth internal audit. This will consist of interviews with organizational leaders and program owners to evaluate their programs, policies and procedures to identify further areas of opportunity to support the growth of inclusion.
