Kincardine residents and ratepayers are getting free admissions to the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre this weekend.
Bruce County says the museum will be free to attend on Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of Kincardine Community Days.
The Community Days are in recognition of Kincardine’s support of the museum’s plans to expand its archives.
The county says this will be the first of two Kincardine Community Days this year.
Residents are invited to attend the museum’s summer exhibits – Sonic Sensations and Spirit Seeds: A Celebration of Indigenous Beadwork, and any permanent exhibits. These include Riding the Rails, Captivating Coastline, The Last Frontier, Bevan’s General Store, and Anishnaabwe Endaat: Where we live and lived.
In addition, the museum’s backyard has two outbuildings to explore, a one-room schoolhouse and a pioneer’s cabin.
Those interested in visiting the library this Saturday are asked to register on the Bruce County Museum website, or show proof of residency when they enter.
The second community day will be hosted at the museum on Oct. 22.
