A new survey has been launched to gauge the challenges people in Owen Sound are facing renting property.
The survey is being launched by the RestSafe Owen Sound Collaborative, and follows a similar survey done with landlords and property managers in the Fall of 2021.
The survey’s goal seeks to shed light on issues and challenges tenants and housing providers in the city are facing, and the results will be shared to discuss possible actions to improve housing conditions for tenants and support landlords.
The survey will remain open until the end of October.
Those who live in private market, non-profit and social housing are invited to share their views on a range of issues, including the physical condition of their units, being able to communicate with their landlord when issues arise, and their experience with getting problems addressed.
Participants will have the chance to enter a draw with win one of five $25 gift cards.
The survey can be filled out here or by getting a paper copy at the Owen Sound Library and Adult Learning Centre, United Way, M’wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre, YMCA Employment office, Grey Bruce Legal Clinic, Grey Bruce Public Health, Grey County Housing office, Owen Sound Municipal Non-Profit Housing office, and SOS mobile outreach at the Owen Sound farmers’ market.
The surveys are being conducted with researchers from the University of Ottawa.
