Bruce County has appointed a new law firm to serve as its Integrity Commissioner.
At yesterday’s county council meeting, Toronto firm Aird & Berlis was officially retained for the work.
Municipal integrity commissioners are responsible for conducting inquiries into complaints about elected officials breaching the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, or local policies such as codes of conduct.
The firm has been used over the past several months by municipalities within Bruce County.
It was previously recommended by other councils that Aird & Berlis take over the position with the upcoming departure of retiring integrity commissioner Harold Elston.
