Meaford’s annual Scarecrow Invasion is announcing its various winners for displays, quilting, colouring, apple pie, and trivia.
Scarecrow Invasion and Family Festival Event Chair Donna Earl says all things scarecrow this year has been heart-warming following a two-year hiatus due to Covid.
“The energy and enthusiasm have been overwhelming, from the turnout for the parade, to the crowds on the streets, and the residents’ participation in the apple pie, colouring, business, trivia, and quilt competitions. There has been so much support for our efforts,” says Earl.
Earl says local crafter’s were invited to take part in the event this year, who designed nine-inch squares that were combined into a scarecrow quilt.
Val and Larry Crow were named Mr. and Mrs. Scarecrow in this year’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
Jennifer McLarty has been announced first place winner of the apple pie contest, followed by Pamela Hawkins and Gail Murray in third place. Braw Robinson was also named first place junior pie winner.
