It looks like Owen Sound is getting a new Zamboni for the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
City council’s consent agenda for Monday night’s meeting includes a recommendation to purchase a new ice resurfacer from Zamboni Company for $106,766.
Council still needs to formally approve the purchase tonight for it to move forward.
It will likely take nearly a year for the new machine to arrive. A staff report says the anticipated delivery date of the new Zamboni is about 43 weeks after a purchase order is sent.
The existing Olympia ice resurfacer at the Bayshore is 14 years old and has over 4,500 hours of service.
City staff are proposing the old ice resurfacer be kept as a backup at the rink — home to the Owen Sound Attack — to meet an Ontario Hockey League requirement.
