The Tom Thomson Art Gallery is getting ready to launch three new exhibits and extend its gallery hours.
Starting on Saturday, February 4th, three new exhibits — “How is Your Fire?”, “Growth Rings – Part Two”, and “So to Speak” will all be launching.
According to the gallery, “How is your Fire?” is the English translation of an Indigenous greeting, and pieces on exhibit will be from artists such as Lisa Hirmer, Emelie Robertson, Don Russell, and Peter Schuler and will be on display until May 27th.
There will also be an artist talk on February 4th from 11 am-12 pm.
“Growth Rings – Part Two” is based on the memoir Finding the Mother Tree by Canadian ecologist Suzanne Simard, and features works from Tom Thomson, Jordan Blackburn, and other works from the collection.
The “So to Speak” exhibit will also be on display until May 27th, and will feature Stephen Andrews, April Hickox, Micah Lexier, Kris Rosar, and Dennis Torbin.
Gallery hours will also be extended as of Tuesday, February 7th, with the gallery being open Tuesday-Friday from 12-5 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am-5 pm.
Starting in March, the gallery will also be open from 12 pm-7 pm on the first Wednesday of each month.
