Today we celebrate the media that reaches the widest audience in the world!
Radio means something different to each person.
Some absolutely love it and listen everyday. Some don’t care for it and that’s okay!
For me, it’s represented the last 15 years of my life.
I graduated from Radio Broadcasting at Conestoga College in 2009. I decided to go back to school after having been to college already and out in the working world for a few years because I just could not shake the thought of working in radio.
I started working that summer as a cruiser girl for a station in the area. That summer job turned into a weekend news job. From there I went to work for Corus in London as the cruiser girl. That summer job turned into a weekend on air position, which prompted me to move to London.
In 2012 I was offered a job in Fort St. John, British Columbia. It was my first full time radio job. So I packed up 2 suitcases, sold my car and used the money to buy a One-Way Plane Ticket.
I spent the next 5 years in BC loving every minute of it, making friends, helping in the community and becoming better at my job.
In 2017, I was offered a job in Thunder Bay for Acadia Broadcasting. So I packed up my belongings and my cat in my car and drove 2 days to Thunder Bay.
I stayed there for 2.5 years before I decided it was time to come home to Owen Sound.
I moved home in July of 2019 and soon after started working part-time here at Bayshore Broadcasting.
Because I was in the right place at the right time, I was fortunate to be offered the morning show a few months later.
I started on Mix Mornings March 2nd, 2020 with J.C. Coutts. He left the show September 2022. I’ve been solo since then.
It’s a bit wild when I think about all the experiences I’ve had because of radio, the people I’ve met, the places I’ve lived. I’ve been very, very lucky.
A big thanks to my family for their constant encouragement! Every time I called and said I was moving again, they were nothing but supportive.
Thank you for letting me be a part of your day!
Thank you to Radio for letting me create so many great memories!
