Are you a coffee drinker? If so, when do you have your first cup for the day?
For many of us, it’s as soon as our eyes are open, but according to a sleep doctor we should actually be waiting a little longer to caffeine up!
It’s recommended that you enjoy your first cup no earlier than 45 minutes after waking up.
The reason is because your cortisol hormone follows a rhythm specific to your own sleeping cycle.
Your level will be at his highest when you wake up, so having coffee so soon to waking up could mean you develop an immunity to the caffeine boost over time.
Cortisol affects sleep, mood, and energy levels. It also combats inflammation, controls blood pressure, and regulates blood sugar, among other important functions.
Also, make sure you’re not drinking it too late in the afternoon as it could affect your sleep.
