Owen Sound’s first goods exchange day of the year is coming up this weekend.
Residents are invited to put unwanted furniture, small appliances or other usable items they are trying to get rid of out on the curb in front of their homes on Saturday, May 18.
It’s an opportunity for others to travel around and pick up goods they might want. Residents are asked to tie a white plastic bag on their unwanted items, to ensure treasure hunters don’t mistakenly grab goods that aren’t being offered for free.
City officials remind any items that don’t find a new home should be taken away from the curb by 6 p.m. Saturday.
And a new twist on goods exchange day this year — plants and flowers.
“Residents are also invited to share their surplus non-invasive plants and flowers, such as hostas, boxwood plants, and peonies. This opportunity allows gardeners to expand their gardens while minimizing waste and saving money,” a statement from the city explains.
