A local organization is celebrating their largest donation to date.
100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce raised $36,100 for Safe ‘N Sound, to help support accessibility of their overnight services.
The group’s 361 members each contribute $100 of their own money, which is then pooled and a vote is taken to select a community organization to receive that money, according to Lynda Legge, who is the chair of 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce.
“Each of the members are just so impressed, and so happy to be part of such an impactful group when it isn’t a difficult thing for them to give an hour of their time,” said Legge. “People are just so happy to hear about it at our next meeting, how their donation made an impact, but they feel so tremendous about being able to make such a difference in our community.”
Safe ‘N Sound provides essential services, advocacy and safe space for some of the most vulnerable members of the community.
100 Women Who Care said in a media release that the funding will not only help provide essential services, but also help to build dignity, security, and hope for those in need.
The organization is also inviting those interested in joining 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce to their next meeting on November 1st at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton. To join, you can take part in the meeting, or join via Zoom through the 100 Women Who Care website.
“I’m just thrilled to be part of such an incredible group of giving women, and I think we do make a huge difference to the needs in our community, which are pretty significant” said Legge.
