Meaford is upping the funding to replace the McCarroll Park splash pad.
Council approved adding an additional $125,400 to the now $459,400 project during its meeting on Monday.
This comes after council approved the McCarroll Park master Plan in 2021, which identified the need to replace the splash pad.
Council had included $334,000 in its capital budget to replace the splash pad this year, however, early estimates suggested the project could end up costing up to $450,000 depending on the scope of the project.
The new location of the splash pad will be at the west end of McCarroll Park.
The original 5,543 square foot splash pad design in the master plan was eventually scaled back to 1,614 square feet.
The project was receiving financial support from the Sydenham Optimist Club, who initially committed $30,000, but have since withdrawn their pledge and to date have provided about $11,000 for the new splash pad.
The splash pad season in Meaford typically runs from mid-June to early September between eight to 10 hours a day.
Staff plan to engage with the community over the fall and winter seasons before construction begins in the spring, 2026 and an anticipated grand opening event and ribbon cutting ceremony in June, 2026.
