Provincial Police have shared more details about an investigation in Walkerton that led to an arrest Monday morning.
South Bruce OPP say they received a report just prior to 3 a.m. early yesterday morning about a snowmobile driving around Walkerton without lights on.
OPP officers set out on patrol and located a crashed snowmobile in the area of Bruce Road 19 and Concession 2 NDR. Police allege the driver of the snowmobile fled the area on foot.
The OPP West Region Emergency Response Team and canine unit were called in to help locate the suspect. He was found shortly after 6 a.m. Monday and arrested, after what police describe as a “brief struggle.”
South Bruce OPP say that included the male suspect grabbing an officer’s holstered gun.
A 40-year-old Huron-Kinloss man is charged with dangerous operation, disarming a peace officer and other offences.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and then remanded into custody.
Bayshore News reached out to an OPP spokesperson for further comment, but has not yet received a response.
