A partnership between the Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Association and the M. H. Brigham Foundation is resulting in 50 electric car chargers being installed in Bruce Peninsula.
A release notes, the chargers will be given to accommodators like motels, tourism operators and BnB’s.
These level two chargers will be set up to help support sustainable and low-carbon tourism in the area, while also serving as encouragement to make the shift to electric vehicles.
The units are capable of providing up to 50 kilometres of range per hour of charge.
Installing these units at local businesses will allow visitors to charge their vehicles overnight and have a full tank by the morning.
Biosphere board member and project lead Glen Estill says, “range anxiety is something that has held people back from buying electric vehicles or using them to their full capacity. With widespread deployment of charges, visitors can use their EV for their commute but also for their vacation.”
Part of the Biosphere EV Charger program, it is a portion of a larger Climate Action initiative which is geared towards lowering the carbon emissions produced, educating the community on climate change mitigation, and creating a community climate action plan.
The map of accommodators which the chargers will be placed can be found on the Plug Share website.
